best climate of the world (829 meters above sea level) The house "Las Mariposas" was built in 1998 at the bottom of Cerro Atenas. From 1999 to 2004, it was extended to meet today's purpose. This little paradise is nestled in a tropical garden with fruit trees and exotic plants. We cater to up to four guests at the same time. The accommodation for a small amount of guests guarantees you heavenly peace and our undivided attention. Between the main house and the separate guest house there is an 8m x 4m solar-heated Pool. The terrace right by the pool is protected from the wind and is ideal for candlelight dinners. The bathrooms are modern and comply with today's requirements. The quiet location and the fresh water supply from our own 55-meter deep well, which is excellent drinking water (not chlorinated), give our guests the impression of being in a place that is in harmony with nature. Our breakfasts are rich, with a lot of local fruits, whole wheat bread and anything else that is desired. No air-conditioning is needed as the average temperature day and night, summer and winter, is about 23 degrees Celsius. Atenas is only 25 km from the international airport San José away. It is located on the road number 3, direction Orotina/Jacó/Manuel Antonio. Atenas is an ideal spot from where to take off for sightseeing. In less than one hour driving you can be at the Pacific or at the active volcano Poás, or the sleeping Barva. Volcano Arenal can be reached in less than two hours by car. Nearby are also the National Park Carara and the hot springs of Aguas Zarcas. Further attractions in our vicinity are: Grecía (metal church), Sarchí (tradition of creating unique oxcarts, arts and furniture) and a Botanic Garden. Atenas offers a great infrastructure with banks, drug stores, private doctors and dentists, and many shopping possibilities. Atenas is known for its own coffee production, which can be visited by appointment. There are many restaurants with international and local menus. A visit to the centre of San José is recommended, ideally by bus, which is cheap and comfortable. The locals (they call themselves Ticos) are very friendly towards foreigners and greet them mostly with a smile. This certainly brightens up our guests' sightseeing adventures through the lush countryside.

Guestroom in the main house with separate entrance: Two single beds, closet. Bathroom with hot water, shower and toilet. Ceiling with wooden beams and panels. Effective ceiling fan. We arrange airport transfer from San José for US$25 (private or by reliable taxi driver). For reservations of four or more days: free airport transfer and 10% discount on the accommodation. Since we have an effective water well on the property, we also offer the following:
Wellness Hydrotherapy after Dr. Lust, New York. This water treatment is pleasant for just about everybody, because the user is not lying in water but instead the 36-degree warm water trickles finely on the body. Each body part is sprayed separately. The user defines time/rhythm. The treatment regulates the blood circulation, helps all organs to an excellent functioning, and is an effective way for purifying the body and organs. Ideal applications of this therapy are after a surgery. It also helps to improve the mobility. During the therapy we offer you a wholefood diet after original recipes from Mrs. Marlies Dorschner, Dallau, and Dr. Bircher, Switzerland.
